The jewellery and silverware factory founded by Herrmann Bauer in 1863 in Schwäbisch Gemünd was one of the most important companies in the production of historicizing jewelry at the end of the 19th century. Countless surviving design drawings still bear witness to the wide range of production.
In keeping with the taste of the time, it was mainly precious objects in the Renaissance style, which earned Hermann Bauer the nickname "Renaissance Bauer". Among his enthusiastic clientele was Olga Queen of Württemberg.
